Station Road – New homes

See below for an update from Accent Housing regarding the allocation of the new dwellings in Station Road, which will be known as Orchard View.

If you are interested in finding out more about these dwellings then please contact Accent Housing directly. Bluntisham Parish Council have no involvement with the allocation of housing. In order to be eligible to bid for a rental property then you must be registered on the housing register.

I wanted to write to the Parish Council with a quick update of where we are with the development of the site at Orchard View, Bluntisham as we have now just about reached a point where we have a fairly fixed programme that we are working towards in terms of property completions.  I know that Seagate have been in regular contact regarding more day-to-day site operational matters as the development has progressed through the second half of 2024.  As we now begin to look ahead into 2025 we are reaching a point where we can start to anticipate, what is always an exciting step in any new project for us, the prospect of us being able to commence advertising these properties for potential residents to find their new home.

As you know we have 26 new homes on the site, 19 of these are for shared ownership, (a mix of 2 and 3 bed houses), and 7 for affordable rent, (a mix of 1 bed houses and 1 and 2 bed bungalows).

We are currently forecasting properties to start becoming available in very late April.  The current programme estimates the shared ownership homes to be completed between April – June and the rented homes in June/July.  The affordable rent properties will be let at 80% of the applicable local market rent, (having regard to the local housing allowance), with shared ownership properties being available from an initial share of 10% up to 75% of the total open market value.  The Sale homes are due to be launched formally in a months’ time, and Accent will start liaising with Huntingdonshire District Council 6-8 weeks before the rented become available to seek nominations from them for these homes.

I have included a leaflet which provides more information on the shared ownership team for the site, see attached.  More information on the development can be found here, www.homemadehomes.com/bluntisham.

For rented properties applicants will come through the local authority using the Council’s housing waiting list.  More information is available on how this works at the following link, Apply to Get on the Housing Register – Huntingdonshire.gov.uk.  The system the Council uses for applications for new affordable rented housing is here, Home-Link – Home.  I am unsure of the registration time for joining the list so would encourage those that are interested to look into doing this at their earliest opportunity.
